Jeremy Jones on Buoloco

Jeremy has the first part of his interview up on www.Buoloco.com. Check it out here:

Jeremy Jones is one of the hardest workers in the business and he does it without any complaints. Whether heading to the back country of Idaho at 4:30 am to hit a secret spot or in an urban assignment in say, Indianapolis for 9 hours trying to accomplish a wall ride and handrail stunt with Pierre Minhondo, Justin Eeles, and the rest of the crew. Jeremy has been filming video parts for 15 years nonstop. From the times when Chad Muska was doing front flips with Tom Penny in “Welcome To Hell.” I think that is beyond metal. He was part of the Forum wonder team for quite a long time until he decided to move on and become part of Burton Snowboards, which he was criticized for. Funny because Burton later bought Forum. He and a few others managed to persevere being cut from the Burton Snowboards Global team and of course, the recession. Also word has it that he took the crown away from the Lizard King during a Skate Game. The question is, how long will he be able to continue filming video parts? Who knows. Welcome to the show of Jeremy Jones.

Sled Down

Dead Sled from The People Crew on Vimeo.

One of the troubles with filming in the backcountry is getting good snow and light to shoot in. Often times that means either waiting for a break in the weather far away from home or driving 10+ hours to get a day or two of R&R with the girlfriend.

On a recent trip to Whistler Curtis Ciszek made the 14 hour drive from his home in Bend, OR to Whistler, Canada for a one day window of sunny weather and a modest dusting of powder. Unfortunately after 5 hours of sleep and a very early wake up call 2 miles on the trail Curtis’s sled starts to act up and begin to overheat unusually early on the trail.

This is a typical dilemma this time of year for these machines. The mountain snowmobile is designed to run in deep powder not an icy trail. Many of the areas we go out to shoot require travel over 15+ miles of bumpy, icy trail. Using scratchers and paying close attention to your machine you can avoid overheating but sometimes that just isn’t enough.

Curtis begin to notice early on that his sled was running strange. He would pull over and pack snow in and around the tunnel to try and cool it down, wait and repeat. This went on for a few rounds until curtis decided to tow it back to the truck.

The final verdict is a $3000 bill and a 10 day wait for a new motor.

Baker

Back to the States for a few after a some good days filming in Whistler. Mt Baker looked like it could be fun so we headed up to check it out. Here is a few photos from the day and a half.

We hit one of the road gaps. The snow was so so but every one got a clip.

Stoked to see Patrick McCarthys board up on the wall at Maple Fuels. Nice People Sticker!

Dinner in Belingham. Patrick McCarthy rode his bike down to meet up with us. We shared storys from the winter and ate some Za. Good times.

Did a little hikeing around the resort after the road gap. Gasp....

Cheese fries and Salmon chowder in the lodge. Ending the day with dudes. Look close you can see Curtis talking to the Sled shop about his broken sled. Ouch!

My friend Ed recently started a really cool and original website based around interviews with profesional snowboarders, skateboarders, film-makers, industry heads, and other unique personalities called Buoloco. You can check it out at www.BUOLOCO.COM

He decided to interview me so if you’d like to watch here is the link: http://www.buoloco.com/web6/node/62

I am horrible in front of a camera, I get really nervous so I just wanted to say that for the record, when I was asked what my dream crew is, it’s honestly the crew that I am working with right now. I’ve had such a fun and incredible year with Seth, Jeremy, JP, Joe, Simon, Bittner, Lauri, and Zac. Props you guys for working so hard and riding so well.

Congrats Ed on creating such an original and creative website.

The Other Day

Russell Dalby took these Photos the other day back at the trucks after a long day. There was a weird warm wind that blew all day. I think they call it a Chinook wind? What ever it was it ruined the snow pretty fast. Check out more of Dalbys work at dalbyphoto.wordpress.com

Searching for something good.

Aaron’s Collarbone Update

// March 26th, 2010 // No Comments » // Uncategorized // by Pierre Minhondo

If you didn’t know, Aaron Bittner got hurt in the beginning of the season. He broke his collarbone in December riding at Park City. He was just able to start filming two weeks ago and he’s killing it already! Below is an update and some photos he sent me a few weeks back, before he got in front of the camera again.

Aaron’s update: Hey guys just got back from my post-op x-rays and I got some nice pictures of my new hardware. Here are some before, and 6-weeks later photos of my collarbone. The doc says its healing well, but he personally couldn’t give me the go ahead to shred. He advised me to limit the amount I expose my left shoulder to potential impact. It feels great though!!

JP’s Broken Board

// March 26th, 2010 // No Comments » // Uncategorized // by Pierre Minhondo

Back in February JP, Joe, Simon, Jeremy, Lauri and Seth went to a pretty famous spot in Minneapolis with some new and really creative ideas. There were a lot of different spots to hit up at this zone and after a few hours everyone was racking up clips. JP’s session was up last and it was knarly. He was hoping onto a flat rail that was about 20 feet long and 15 feet off the ground by the end of it. Once he slid off the rail he would drop the 15 feet and land onto an 8 foot down rail. Crazy! With all that compression he snapped his board dead center after a few tries. After that Jeremy and him tuned up another board and I guess you’ll just have to see the movie this Fall to find out if he got it!
